Ableton Live SLC Workshop #1

Ableton Live SLC Workshop #1

Announcing a free Ableton Live SLC Workshop hosted by Busy Horse Records and friends.

Come hang with other local Salt Lake City Live users and get to know the program a bit better.

I still need to confirm a person or two but the format will be something close to this:

3 x 30 min tutorials from local Live producers
1 x 30 min open Q&A

Feel free to bring your laptops if you want to, but there’s limited table space so keep that in mind. Plenty of chairs tho…

It would be cool to make this a regular thing. The space I have isn’t huge, but it may be possible to move it over to the SLC Library once we outgrow it.

If you have any questions or tutorial topic suggestions message me here or email me at contact[@]mazaibuzai.com
I can’t guarantee covering any given topic but I will do my best to organize a well-rounded session. BTW be sure to join the Salt Lake Ableton group on Facebook if you haven’t yet.

Hope to see you there,
Peace.

PRJKT.GZMO Coming April 30th

PRJKT.GZMO Coming April 30th

In an increasingly crowded musical landscape over-saturated with singles and generic “hits”, it’s refreshing to hear the work of under-the-radar artists who have meticulously honed their craft. Zachary Alonzo (aka mrgizmoe) is just such an artist.

A skilled sound designer and self-taught musician, Zachary has produced an exceptional collection of original tunes that capture a huge range of emotional depth and raw creativity. His unique ability to carve fantastical soundscapes from thin air using oscillators and effects makes for an exhilarating listening experience to say the least. One thing’s for sure, this 22 year old producer is poised to send some noticeable ripples through the electronic music world.

Zachary’s debut release, PRJKT:GZMO, is scheduled for release April 30, 2012 under the Busy Horse Records imprint. It will be available through major digital retailers, with a limited physical release to follow.

Recent mrgizmoe appearances include performances at the Beauty Bar in Las Vegas, W Lounge in Salt Lake City, and various underground electronic music events around Los Angeles. He’ll be back at the W Lounge on May 23rd so you won’t want to miss it!

Check out some preview of some of the new tracks from PRJKT:GZMO below:

MAZAIBUZAI

Corners

I finished this track just in time for the show last Wednesday at W Lounge in SLC. This song reaches deep into my musical psyche, exploring distant memories of trance fuzziness and epic anime orchestration. Sit back, relax, and enjoy Corners

Right Where It Belongs (Mazaibuzai Remix)

Just finished this underground remix of one of my favorite songs by NIN. I’ll be playing it somewhere in my set this coming Wednesday at W Lounge. If you’re in SLC 3/28 don’t miss out on a killer night for underground electronic music. I’m starting the night early @ 9pm so don’t be late!

Producer/DJ Mrgizmoe and DJ Jason David will finish off the night while I get my birthday on Right Where It Belongs (Mazaibuzai Remix) Be sure to check out the links to their music.

New Track: LED’s & LP’s

This is one of my new productions, LED’s & LP’s. This edit is an extended version that I use in my live set (plenty of outro beats). The beats were constructed from the ground up using custom drum kits and obscure texture samples I’ve recorded. To keep things reasonably organic, I tried to keep quantization (if any) as loose as possible. I always play and record each rhythmic phrase by hand in order to preserve dynamic midi velocity.

Let me know what you think of this new track!

Aphex Twin – Avril 14th (MAZAIBUZAI RMX)

Avril 14 has always been my favorite Aphex Twin song. I remember hearing it for the first time in a Salad Fingers cartoon or something. I randomly started playin with ideas yesterday and a few hours later it was done. I got completely lost in the music for a good while. If you like it find me on facebook or send me an email.
